The Tucker Historical Society is dedicated to learning, understanding, and sharing local history. We are interested in raising community historical awareness through recording and preserving personal and family histories. We recognize and publicize notable properties, older homes, and landmarks for their historical significance to the community, and by providing information about historical preservation resources.
Established in 2001 as an ad hoc committee of Tucker Civic Association, then re-organized in 2004 as Tucker Historical Society, Inc. as a not for profit organization 501-c-3.
Membership is free.
Our annual community events, Tucker Plant Swap & Share, Tucker Historical Society’s Garden Tour, and Browning Courthouse Day bring the Tucker community together to celebrate Tucker, Georgia.
We recognize the anniversary of Tucker, Georgia as June 25, 1892, when Alpheus Chewning was appointed Postmaster for Tucker by the US Postal Service.
